Summary
We are seeking a Summer Student – Social Media Community Manager who will assist in creating and updating content across social media platforms, drive awareness of the organization and its programs through community youth outreach and support other administrative areas. We are looking for a strong creative candidate, who not only enjoys navigating the various social media platforms and help develop marketing content, but also reaches out to youth who may benefit from our programs. The work is partly remote (social media), and partly within the community, including your own community.
About Us
Re-Imagine Ontario (“The Organization” or “RiO”) is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve the health, education, and employment of vulnerable individuals, with particular focus on black youth, through community networks, development opportunities, and family supports. The programs we run include both youth and programs for isolated seniors.
The Role
We are seeking a strong candidate to help us expand our efforts across Ontario, by assisting us in developing our brand and creating and developing our presence on social media and while you gain experience doing so. This is an opportunity to use your social media savvy to help a small grassroots organization grow. This is a role requires a problem-solver who is willing to engage with youth and seniors within the Halton-Peel communities.
Responsibilities:

· Assist with promotion of our programs by telling your friends, family, schoolmates, parents, & community youth
· Assist with creating and posting engaging content for our audience through social posts, imagery/videos
· Attend summer events and document events using photos and phone or other videos.
· Help to develop, execute, and optimize online campaigns; Find new audience and social media followers online
· Assist with weekly monitoring and interacting with our audience on our assigned social channels
· Assist with monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on social performance if required
· Assist with research that help us stay up to date on changing tools in digital and social media including but not limited to measurement and analytic tools, industry and global trends, competitor tracking daily
· Assist with enhancing the current social media platforms
· Assist with designing and creating shareable content (that meets our mission/brand guidelines)
· Working with our team to create and maintain social programming calendars across channels
· Assist HR with posting jobs to social media sites
· Assist with delivering with youth or Seniors programs as required
· Other admin functions as required.
Qualifications & Skills
Ø We look for character, enthusiasm, courtesy, strong communication skills, an interest in spending time outside with children/youth (if required) and have an interest in community work with youth or seniors.
Ø Youth aged 18-30 years
Ø Able to confirm secondary or post-secondary full time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies in September 2025.
Ø Two references (school, personal, or professional) needed and a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) may be required.
Ø Experience working in marketing and/or with social media is an asset
Ø Experience using Canva and other simple design tools is an asset
Ø Ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PPT; O365 experience is an asset
Ø Having a LinkedIn account and other social media accounts is an asset, as you will be required to link up to Re-Imagine Ontario’s social media as a Content Contributor.
Commitment:
Ø This is a summer contract position for 8 weeks at 30-35 hr/wk.
Ø Anticipated start date: Immediately or latest May 19, 2025
Ø Pay rate $ 19.00/hr
