Summary

 

Re-Imagine Ontario is seeking committed male volunteers, both young adults (ages 16–25) and adults (26+), to serve as mentors in our G.A.M.E. (Guidance, Athletics, Mentoring, Education) program. Mentors will help guide vulnerable male youth aged 10–17 by participating in group sports, outdoor activities like camping and hiking, and life skills development sessions. Volunteers will act as positive role models, encouraging teamwork, resilience, personal growth, and leadership. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people while building stronger, more connected communities..

 

About Us

 

Re-Imagine Ontario (“The Organization” or “RiO”) is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve the health, education, and employment of vulnerable individuals, with particular focus on black youth, through community networks, development opportunities, and family supports. The programs we run include both youth and programs for isolated seniors.

 

Program: G.A.M.E. (Guidance, Athletics, Mentoring, Education)

Location: Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and surrounding areas

Commitment: 4–6 hours/month (flexible scheduling)

 

About the Role:

Re-Imagine Ontario (RiO) is seeking enthusiastic male mentors — both peers (ages 16–25) and adults (26+) — to volunteer with our G.A.M.E. program. Mentors will guide, support, and inspire vulnerable male youth (ages 10–17) through group sports, outdoor activities, and life skill development. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact while promoting teamwork, resilience, and positive personal growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with assigned youth mentees.
  • Participate in monthly group activities, sports, and outdoor events.
  • Model leadership, respect, sportsmanship, and positive life skills.
  • Encourage youth in goal-setting, communication, and decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with RiO staff and fellow mentors to create a safe and engaging environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Male, age 18 or older.
  • Passion for youth development, mentorship, and/or sports.
  • Reliable, patient, and empathetic.
  • Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (cost may be reimbursed).
  • Experience with sports, coaching, or youth programs (an asset but not required).
